Torbay MP Adrian Sanders has called on local Mayor Gordon Oliver to sign up to the Royal British Legion’s Community Covenant for armed forces personnel and veterans.
The Covenant, which has been adopted by Devon and Plymouth Councils already, provides central Government funding for veterans’ services and recognises the commitment made to the country by servicemen and women.
Adrian attended an event at the House of Commons to highlight the good work of the Covenant.
Adrian commented:
“Whatever your views of the various conflicts Britain has been involved with in recent years, we should all recognise the bravery and commitment of our armed forces. I hope the council signs up to this brilliant initiative and supports our veterans and forces locally.”
Information on the Community Covenant can be found here.
