In response to proposals unveiled by Education secretary Ruth Kelly to force schools to publish individual student performance in each subject area, Lib Dem Education spokesman Annette Brooke said:
"We obviously need to ensure that all our children can reach their full potential. But these proposals represent the worst sort of Whitehall interference and amounts to micro-managing on a quite ridiculous scale. We need to equip our schools and empower our headteachers to make these sort of judgments - and provide quality feedback to parents - without such a level of meddling by Westminster politicians."
