The Government has today signalled the go-ahead for a small gambling facility in Torbay permitted under the Gambling Act 2005. The Secretary of State for Culture Media and Sport, Andy Burnham, today laid down a draft Order identifying the 16 local authorities in England, Scotland and Wales which will be authorised to issue licences.
Adrian commented:
" There is still time for the Mayor to properly consult local people and affected businesses before issuing a licence. His reluctance to involve residents in this part of his master plan for the Bay demonstrates a lack of confidence in his case and even less trust in the people of Torbay"
